Overview:

Micro lasers, especially micro electrically pumped lasers, have significant research value in fields such as optical communication, optical computing, and optical storage. Perovskite prepared by solution method has excellent optical and electrical properties, making it a highly promising medium for electrically pumped laser gain. Recently, Wang Jianpu's research group at Nanjing Tech University reported on the development of continuous wave (CW) optically pumped lasers in their latest research, which represents a crucial step towards electrically pumped perovskite lasers.

Article:

In the article "Continuous wave lasing in perovskite LEDs with an integrated distributed feedback Resonator," the research team successfully achieved a continuous red laser output of approximately 713nm wavelength by integrating high-efficiency perovskite LEDs and distributed feedback resonators, with a lower threshold at 110K. The LED exhibits stable operating performance at a certain current density, indicating that the carrier injection rate has exceeded the optical pumping threshold. These results indicate that once the Joule heating problem is solved, it is possible to achieve electrically pumped perovskite laser diodes.

In another paper titled "High Q-factor and low threshold continuous wave near infrared lasing with quali-2D perovskites", the research team utilized additive engineering techniques to optimize quasi two-dimensional perovskites with multiple quantum well structures, regulate the crystallization process of quasi two-dimensional perovskites, and prepare dense and smooth thin films. This significantly improves the carrier cascade efficiency and reduces the threshold of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) in perovskite films. Furthermore, by combining the thin film with high-quality distributed gratings, a 809nm continuous wave near-infrared laser was successfully achieved at 110K.
